Welcome to the latest edition of KMaiL, a weekly e-mail update from Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.

-- NEWS AND INFORMATION –

 

= CALL NEWS =

   KML teacher Todd Jahns, has received a Call to serve as Professor of Physical Education at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota.  Please keep Mr. Jahns, his family, and both MLC and KML in your prayers as he seeks the Lord's will with his decision.  Feel free to share your thoughts and insights with Mr. Jahns as well.

 

= CHEER & DANCE REGIONAL COMPETITION =

   The KMLHS varsity cheerleaders and dance team will be competing at the WACPC (Wisconsin Association of Cheer and Pom Coaches) Eastern Regional competition on, Saturday, January 26th.  The competition will be held at Oshkosh North High School.  Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and children 5 and under are free.  The cheer competition starts at 9:30 AM with awards at approximately 11:30 PM.  KML's varsity team will perform around 10:30 AM.  The pom competition starts at 12:45 PM with awards at approximately 3:45 PM.  KML's dance team will perform around 12:45 PM.  For more information, please check out WACPC's web site at www.wacpc.com .  Your support will be appreciated as both teams compete for a bid to the state competition.  Please keep their safety and success in your thoughts and prayers.  To God be the Glory!

 

= LISTEN TO KML VS LUTHER PREP ONLINE =

   The boys basketball game at Watertown Luther Prep on Saturday, January 26 will be broadcast live on www.prepsonthenet.com .

 

= WIND ENSEMBLE ON FOX NEWS =

   The KMLHS Wind Ensemble entered a video contest run by Fox 6 Milwaukee and was chosen to appear on the Fox 6 Wake Up Show.   Once chosen, the Fox camera crew came to campus on Thursday, January 24, to film the band live and interview students for the spots airing the week of January 29.  All members of the crew were struck by the KMLHS atmosphere, how well spoken our students were, and facilities.  We thank the Lord for all of the blessings he has showered on our school!  Go to  www.foxhilitesmilwaukee.com to see the video that the Wind Ensemble submitted.

 

= KML ADULT CHORALE =

   The Kettle Moraine Lutheran Adult Chorale will have its first rehearsal for the spring season on Sunday, January 27, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM in the high school music room. Go to the Adult Chorale web page for the complete schedule.

 

= FREE VIOLIN RECITAL =

   The KML Fine Arts Concert Series returns in 2008 with a guest recital featuring violinist Karl Orvik on Monday, January 28 at 7:00pm. Orvik holds a Masters in Music degree in violin performance and is sure to provide an evening of memorable music. A freewill offering will be gathered to cover the costs of the event. Please mark your calendar and make plans to join us!

 

= GRADE SCHOOL CHEER-DANCE COMPETITION =

   KML is proud to host their annual grade school cheer and dance competition the afternoon of Saturday, February 2.  You are invited to come and cheer on these young athletes.  Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for students and children 5 and under are free.  Trophies will be awarded and the top scoring cheer and dance teams will perform at halftime of KML’s JV game on Tuesday, February 5.  Please check out our web site at www.kmlhs.org/athletics/cheerleading for more information.

 

= OLIVER! DINNER THEATER =

   There are still seats available for the dinner show, "Oliver" on Friday, March 7th.  In addition to a wonderful meal of baked ham, roast turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, buttered corn, tossed salad, rolls with butter and dessert, there will be a raffle and silent auction.  Enjoy the pre-play atmosphere with our friendly "pick-pockets" and English market.  While visiting the market, you can purchase fresh flowers, English toffee or chocolate coins for your favorite "student-star" or to take home.  Plan now to join the festivities.  Simply go to www.kmlhs.org and click on the Oliver Tickets link to reserve your tickets today.

 

= 10TH ANNUAL CHARITY AUCTION =

   We hope you will be able to attend the 10th Annual Charity Auction, “Springtime in Paris”, to benefit Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School!  Nearly $500,000 has been raised over the last 9 years to help pay for non-budgeted items for KML.  Gather a group of friends and/or family and book a table for this fun event!

   New items added this year to make our 10th Annual a special treat for all those in attendance include WTMJ’s own Jonathan Green as our auctioneer.  We are also planning on recognizing our KML graduates from the classes of 1978, 1988 and 1998.   Any questions can be directed to Karen Bartman (262-677-4051 or kbartman@kmlhs.org ) or Gretchen Hudock (262-644-5381 or pineberryq@msn.com ).

   Donations gratefully accepted.  Our deadline for donations is March 15.

 

= KML FAMILY MUSIC FESTIVAL =

   Mark your calendar for the KML Family Music Festival. “Old Time Rock and Roll” is the theme for this year. This is a day for family fun with food, games, musical entertainment, silent and verbal auctions, and more. Please join us for this event on Friday, April 4, from 5:00-9:00pm. New for this year is a Friday night fish fry along with viewing the LES Science Fair entries. All NHS members are required to work for children’s games, coat check, or distribution of food. A sheet for pie and basket donations and volunteer parent workers is available on the KML website at www.kmlhs.org/publications . Please consider helping!

 

= SUMMER CAMPS =

   Registration forms for KML summer camps will be available during the grade school basketball tournament.  You can find the information and forms in the rack outside the main office.  Registration forms are also available at www.kmlhs.org/camps .
