Welcome to the newest edition of KMaiL, a weekly e-mail update from Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.

-- NEWS AND INFORMATION --

= FRESHMEN/PARENT ORIENTATION =
We look forward to welcoming our new freshmen class soon!  On August 20, the freshmen will meet at 1:00 p.m. for their orientation.  The Cross Trainers (a junior/senior leadership group) will do some group activities and ice breakers to begin familiarizing the freshman with one another as well as with their school.  At about 5:30 p.m., supper will be served to the freshmen.  At 6:30 the parents will join their freshmen children for the rest of the orientation evening, including running through a shortened schedule of the day to see the classrooms and meet the teachers.  We hope to finish up the evening by 9:15.  Please contact Cross Trainers leader Mark Heckendorf if you have any questions.  (Phone: 262.677.4051 x 1155;  E-mail: mheckend@kmlhs.org)

= SOPHOMORE THROUGH SENIOR STUDENT/PARENT ORIENTATION =
Our orientation evening for our returning students (grades 10-12) and their parents takes place on Tuesday evening, August 21, beginning at 6:30.  After a couple of short group presentations, parents of each class will have the opportunity to meet with the various teachers who serve as overall advisors for class-specific items and activities.  Lastly, parents and students can run through a shortened schedule of the school day to meet with teachers, receive materials, etc.  We plan to finish up the evening around 8:45.  If you have any questions, please contact Principal Steve Granberg.  (Phone: 262.677.4051 x 1104;  E-mail: sgranber@kmlhs.org).

= CALCULATOR REMINDER =
If you purchase a new calculator for your student this summer, please remember to save the UPC code and bring it in to KML.  Our school can redeem them for valuable calculators and accessories.

= SUPPORT YOUR KMLHS CHEERLEADERS =
On Saturday, August 18th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM the KMLHS Cheer & Stunt Team will be conducting a car wash, bake sale and brat fry at the Piggly Wiggly on HWY 60 in Jackson. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has pledged to match proceeds dollar for dollar up to $500!  The Thrivent match will go towards updating the sound system equipment for the football stadium and competition gym. Help us meet this goal! Come and support your award winning cheerleaders!  We appreciate your support and hope to see you there!

= FOOTBALL HOME-OPENER =
We would like to invite all KMLHS students, parents, alumni, and grade school students to a special home-opener football game on Friday, August 31st at 4:45 PM.  Help cheer the Chargers on to victory against Columbus!  The game will also coincide with our football and cheer teams' Parent's Day Celebration.  All athletes and parents will be recognized throughout the game.  Small prizes will be given before and during the game, and all fans will have the opportunity to win a basket full of great Charger Gear by participating in our Senior Photo Match contest.  All proceeds will go towards KML's athletic budget.  We would love to see the stands packed full of KML fans!

= FUEL =

FUEL, a group of primarily students that meets for a monthly Bible study and song night, meets again this Sunday in our last of three summer meetings.  This group is open to people of all ages.  We currently have participants ranging from middle school students to adults.  Pray that the weather remains dry as we are planning to have a campfire during our time together.  Thus, note some minor changes from our normal routine.

1.  We will begin at 8:00, not 7:00.  This allows a little more time for darkness to set in.

2.  Please bring lawn chairs and/or blankets.  You are welcome to sit on the ground if you want.

3.  When you arrive, park in the back parking lot (where the faculty/staff parks).  We will meet on the back gravel parking lot.

4.  We should finish around 9:00 and then you're welcome to stick around until 10ish.  I'll bring ingredients to make s'mores around 10:00.  Bring roasting sticks if you have them.

What isn't different from our normal routine is...

Bring someone with you!  We are in a daily battle with Satan, a battle not over land or money but over the souls of each person in the world.  Is this the opportunity the Holy Spirit will use to begin planting seeds?

Spread the word...FUEL ON Sunday at 8:00.

This is a also a special farewell to college students.
