Welcome to the latest edition of KMaiL, a weekly e-mail update from Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.

-- NEWS AND INFORMATION --

= CALL NEWS =

Randy Hughes, our Pastor of Student Life and religion teacher, has received a Call to be the pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in South St. Paul, Minnesota.  The church numbers about 750 souls with 625 communicants.  Please keep Pastor Hughes, his family, and both Grace and KML in your prayers as he seeks the Lord's will with his decision.  Feel free to share your thoughts and insights with Pastor Hughes as well.

= VOLLEYBALL STATE CHAMPS =

Congratulations to the Lady Chargers volleyball team for winning their matches last Friday and Saturday to walk away with the 2007 state championship trophy!

= CHEER COMPETITION RESULTS =

The KMLHS varsity cheer team had a successful day at the WI Spirit Classic competition on Friday, November 2nd. The varsity placed 3rd place in their division.  The teams are extremely thankful for the support shown by the parents and fans that attended the event to cheer us on. To God be the Glory!

= ECHOES TRAVEL TO CHORAL FEST =

The Echoes are participating in the 2007 National Choral Fest on November 8-11. The weekend is an annual event that brings together WELS high school students from around the country. This year they will travel to Milwaukee, where Wisconsin Lutheran High School will serve as host. The Echoes will perform Friday night as part of the Pops Concert at 7:00pm, sing in a local church on Sunday morning, and complete the weekend with a Sacred Concert on Sunday at 2:00pm. Please keep these students and their director, Mr. Goede, in your prayers as they use their talents to God’s glory.

= VETERANS' DAY PRESENTATION AT FAITH IN SUSSEX =

Celebrate Veterans' Day on November 9, with the 8th Air Force! History comes to life in a rare opportunity to hear the story of the Mighty 8th Air Force through the words of three airmen who flew on the planes during WWII.  The presentation is absolutely free and starts promptly at 7pm until 9pm here at Faith.  Come early and view a collection of personal artifacts before the program.  After the program, there will be a "question and answer" open floor forum.  Our guest speakers would gladly answer any further questions that were not covered in their presentation.  For more information and directions, visit www.faithsussex.org .

= VETERANS’ DAY =

We are once again honored to host a special Veterans’ Day program this year. All are welcome to join us on Monday, November 12, at 9:20am in our gymnasium. The program will last 45 to 50 minutes. All veterans, active military, reserves – and their families – are most welcome as our honored guests. Pastor Charles Raasch of Morning Star, Jackson, will be our guest speaker. If you have family members or friends who are veterans, active military, or military family, please invite them to this special program. Our honored guests are asked to call our school at 262-677-4051 to let us know they are coming. (Ask for Wendy Zimmermann, extension 1101).

= FOOTBALL PLAYOFF UPDATE =

With a win over Appleton Xavier last Saturday, the Charger Football team has reached the Level 4 WIAA Playoff game!  This is the final game on the road to the state championship game at Camp Randall.  The Chargers will face the Somerset Spartans at 1:00pm on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Thom Field in Wausau (1601 N. 10th St. Wausau, WI 54403).  Tickets are $3.00.  To assist a smooth entry into the game, plan to have the correct amount for your ticket purchase.  Note that the parking lot at Thom Field is not large so parking on nearby streets will be needed.  Be sure to observe the parking regulations.  Directions to Thom Field are posted at www.kmlhs.org/athletics/sports_maps.htm .  Take Exit 193 Bridge Street east to the field.

After defeating the Spartans, the Chargers will play in the Division 4 Championship game at Camp Randall in Madison on Thursday, November 15 at 7:00pm.  Due to parking issues riding a bus from KML might be the best transportation choice.  Ticket prices for the game are $6 for adults/students.  Children under 6 are $1 if accompanied by a parent.  More details will be given next week.

= GRADE SCHOOL CHEER CLINIC =

The KML football team has been blessed with success, and has advanced to the WIAA State Semi-Final game.  However, this game conflicts with our grade school cheer clinic. Because our first priority falls with supporting the team, both our JV and varsity cheer teams will be attending the game. We are disappointed that this conflicts the clinic, but excited to have this opportunity to cheer our team onto a victory!

We have looked into several options, and the best scenario is to reschedule the clinic for Saturday, November 17th from 1-5 PM and the coaches' clinic from 10 AM-12 PM that same day (same time frames as the original clinics).  Anyone who is currently registered and cannot attend will be reimbursed.  We will be contacting all registered participants with this information.  We ask that you contact us by 5:00pm on Thursday, November 8th, if you are unable to attend.  If we do not hear from you, we will assume you can attend.

We will also open registration to any new participants that would like to attend.  Registrations should be submitted by 5:00pm to KML by Thursday, November 8th (to guarantee them a t-shirt).  Registrations will be accepted after that deadline, but a t-shirt cannot be guaranteed.

Registration information is available at www.kmlhs.org/athletics/cheerleading (please use the original form).  All clinic participants are also invited to the join the KMLHS Cheer Team in the Menomonee Falls Christmas Parade on Sunday, November 25th.

The coaches' clinic will featured topics including cheer safety, choreography 101, practice management, and our popular stunt demonstration session. Coaches are invited to attend the afternoon session with their team free of charge.  Registration information for the coaches' clinic is also found at www.kmlhs.org/athletics/cheerleading .

For more information or questions, please contact Amy Nass at amy.y.nass@gasai.com .  If you would like to cancel your registration and receive a refund, please contact Amy at 414-266-9157 or 414-607-0628 by 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 8th.

= SPECIAL PERFORMANCE - KMLHS CHARGERS' NIGHT WITH THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS =

The KMLHS Cheer and Dance teams will be performing their popular combined routine prior to tip-off at the Milwaukee Bucks verses the Orlando Magic game on Wednesday, December 12th.  Tickets can be purchased from any dancer or cheerleader.  Upper level tickets are discounted from $29 to $20.  $4 from each ticket sold will go towards the cheer and dance teams' athletic budgets.  The deadline for ticket orders is Friday, November 16th.  Come and support your spirit team as they perform at this exciting venue!  To God be the Glory!

= KML IS ON GODTUBE =

Have you ever wished you could share the message you heard at an event, such as the Shauer Arts Center?  Have you ever wondered how you could interpret the enthusiasm of our KML faculty, staff, and students for someone who is wondering what KML is like?  Now you can.  KML is on GodTube.  Visit us any time at www.GodTube.com and do a search for KML.

You can see a video clip of music directors Matthew Schlomer and Michael Goede offer their perspective on the Walking the Path campaign which will lead to the construction of a chapel/auditorium at KML.  Give God the Glory as you watch and listen to our KMLHS students take you on a tour of the high school, offering you their insights on why you should consider KML as your high school.
