COMMUNIQUE

November 1, 2016

Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School

Grandparents' Days 2016

2016 Grandparents

The student body looked a bit different on October 13 and 14 when more than 325 grandparents visited KML and attended classes with their grandchildren on our annual Grandparents’ Days event. However, it wasn’t all work for the grandparents as they also got a preview of KML’s Children’s Theatre production of Miss Nelson is Missing! and were treated to coffee and donuts in the morning as well as a tasty lunch.

A special thank you goes out to all who helped make this event possible. KML loved hosting the grandparents of our students, and we’re looking forward to seeing as many of them as possible at the same event next year!

KMLES Band Students in Community Theater

KMLES in MM

The students of the KMLES Band Program were recently invited to help out with some community performances of The Music Man put on by Spotlight Productions in West Bend. For these performances, Spotlight Productions wanted to involve some of the local middle school band programs and asked if we had any interested students. For the October 14 and 15 performances, student volunteers from our KMLES Band Program were able to provide them with all the student musicians they needed for one of the final scenes which involved a band of young people playing for the townsfolk. We are thankful to have had the opportunity for some of our young musicians to participate in this community event, and we are proud of how well they performed!

Christmas Cookie Baking at KML is Back!

The 6th annual day of Christmas cookie baking at KML will be held in the KML foods room on Saturday, December 3, from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. We will make use of the five mixers and four ovens in the foods room AND the convection ovens in the cafeteria kitchen to make and bake as many cookies as we can in the three-hour time slot. Last year’s total cookie count with ten cookie chefs was a little over 1400 cookies which were then divided up among the bakers!

Those attending should bring containers or tins in which to take home the goodies. Recipes, kitchen utensils, and baking pans will be provided, as well as a drink and snack mix.

This event is open to all KML federation members and friends that are high school age and up. In the past, we have had fun with mother/daughter or father/son teams (or mother/son and father/daughter teams).

Cost is $20 per participant or $35 for a team. Space is limited, so register soon!

Coaching Assistance Needed

KML currently needs coaching assistance in the following areas: girls JV soccer, golf assistant, track coach, and JV cheer coach. If you have an interest in helping serve our student athletes in one or more of these areas, please contact Mr. Len Collyard (262-677-4051 x1105; len.collyard@kmlhs.org) for more information.

SCRIP

Earn tuition credit for current or future KML students.

Scrip Office Hours:
Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays

8:00 AM-3:00 PM
(Closed Tuesdays)

Have you been taking advantage of the Scrip program at KML? If not, you are missing out on an easy opportunity to earn rebates that can be applied to your child’s or grandchild’s tuition account, or you may take a cash payout instead. In fact, during the last Scrip year which ended March 31, 2016, parents, grandparents, and friends of KML earned almost $46,000 of rebates without spending a penny more than they normally would have. If you haven’t been using the Scrip program, NOW is the time to get started so that you can capitalize on any additional shopping you are likely to do during the upcoming holidays.

As an extra incentive, anyone who purchases $100 or more of Scrip during the month of November will be put in a drawing for one of 3-$10 gift cards (your choice from the cards we have on hand).

If you have questions about how to get started or just want more information, visit www.kmlhs.org/scrip, contact the Scrip office (262-677-4051 x1119; scrip@kmlhs.org), or just stop in during normal Scrip office hours.

We hope to see you soon!
