Grant Provides Unique Opportunity

Accounting Competition

Thanks to a grant received by Mr. Bob Heider, KML's accountant and accounting instructor, from the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA), four KML students and Mr. Heider traveled to Lakeland University on March 6 to compete in the university's 5th Annual Forensic Accounting Competition. KML was one of 25 teams from high schools throughout Wisconsin who had researched and presented their findings and recommendations on the Wells Fargo case of opening unauthorized accounts. In addition to competing, students had the opportunity to listen to and mingle with professionals in the forensic accounting field including FBI agents, a WI-DOJ cyber agent specialist, a bank risk officer, and CAP forensic accountants.

Consider hosting a student from China next year! We are seeking a few good homes to house young men who are expected to attend KML in the fall. Our International Student Program Coordinator, Mrs. Dawn Farley would be happy to answer your questions. Please also feel free to share names of families you may know in our area who may be a good match for this program.

The Marshall family is hosting Violet, a senior at KML. Sue Marshall reflects on how hard it will be to say goodbye to her host daughter upon graduation, “We just love Violet. In fact, we would love for her to stay with us another year.”

The Gochenaur family of Hartford is hosting Franklin, a sophomore at KML. “He has become part of the family,” commented Lisa Gochenaur. “We get together with our friends who are also hosting international students; we love it. It just works well.”

Our host families are significant partners in helping our students develop spiritually, mentally, and physically through a Christ-centered education. Without homes for the students, we cannot offer them this opportunity. If you would like to learn more about our international program at KML or are interested in becoming a host family, please contact Mrs. Farley (262-677-4051 x1126;
