Advanced Placement Calculus AB

1 credit, 2 semesters Elective
Grade 12
Prerequisite: Pre-Calculus and math department’s approval
Students that have
shown a strong ability in mathematics and need to study Calculus
for their future career are encouraged to take this course. Upon
successful completion of the course and the AP Calculus exam,
students may receive college credit in Calculus. The course
follows the topical outline provided for the course by the
College Board including: Analysis of graphs, limits of
functions, asymptotic and unbounded behavior, continuity as a
property of functions, concepts of the derivative, derivative at
a point, derivative as a function, second derivatives,
applications of derivatives, computation of derivatives,
interpretations and properties of the definite integral,
applications of integrals, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus,
techniques of anti-differentiation, applications of
anti-differentiation, and numerical approximations to definite
integrals.
