Parabolic Light Reflector Construction. First, obtain a large sheet of 1-1/2 inch thick pink foam insulation.
Then, break or cut it in half so you have two sheets a couple feet long and a couple feet wide (your preference). Come up with parabolic equations for each of the two reflectors you are going to make. Next, come up with the focus, put it and the x and y axes on the pink foam insulation, plot points, and connect them.
After you have your parabolas drawn or plotted on the two sheets of pick foam insulation, you are going to cut out the partions above the parabola. Once this is done, place reflective tape along the inner surface of each parabola.
Finally, glue a sheet of cardboard to the backs of each of the parabolas,
place a sign with the equation on it on the cardboard, and label your directrix and axes.
