Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School offers a band program to the elementary schools that are a part of the KML Federation. Once each week an instrumental instructor visits each elementary school to give students private music lessons. The lesson program consists of teaching the students the basics of their instruments and reading music. Large group rehearsals are held at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School on Saturday mornings. The students are split into three groups: the beginners are in the Colt Band, the second year students are in the Maverick Band and the more advanced students are in the Mustang Band. Students in the Mustang Band may also participate in Jazz Band. Performances for the groups include two major concerts in December and May, as well as other smaller events throughout the year. At these rehearsals students learn more about playing their instruments, meet new people and have other opportunities not available to them as a solo player. Students also participate in the Solo and Ensemble Festival held at KML in March. There students will have the opportunity to play in solo and small ensemble settings.
