Faculty & Staff News

Mr. Matt Moeller has accepted the call he received to serve as the senior administrator and high school and junior high school principal at Illinois Lutheran Schools in Crete, IL.

We are thankful for Mr. Moeller’s 23 years of service at KML as teacher, coach, curriculum coordinator, and, most recently, as our Director of Instruction. He has been a blessing to many, and our KML ministry has been advanced through his selfless work and humble servant leadership. Please pray for Mr. Moeller, his wife, Amy, and his family as God leads them through this transition of ministry.

Join us in welcoming Mr. Dave Murphy to KML as our new Director of Operations, filling the vacancy left by Mr. Jody Hansen’s retirement. Mr. Murphy and his wife, Susan, have been blessed with three children who are past and current Chargers: Kylee (’17), Garrett (’24), and Mollie (’25). The Murphys are members of St. John’s, Lannon.

Let’s Grow Together Campaign Update

As we are coming to the end of our two-year campaign, and God has certainly blessed us, we know we aren’t finished yet. These next few months are critical as we look for additional funding to ensure a successful campaign and the funds necessary to complete the expansion. Every dollar raised and pledge received reduces the need to borrow for the project. So thank you for your generous support enabling more students to receive a Christ-centered education at KML.

For more information, visit kmlhs.org/grow or contact either President Jamie Luehring (jamie.luehring@kmlhs.org) or Director of Mission Advancement Wendy Breimon (wendy.breimon@kmlhs.org).

The time is now. Let’s Grow Together!

THANK YOU for Supporting the KML Ministry!

Thank you for your generous support of the KML ministry through KML’s 2024 Golden Gala. We truly appreciate your support.

Initial estimates indicate a gross income of over $210,000. Proceeds from this event will be split with a portion going toward the Let’s Grow Together campaign and a portion to the student assistance fund, ultimately allowing more students to attend KML for a safe, quality, Christ-centered education.

Thank you once again for being a part of the KML family and helping our students. With your continued support, we can continue to carry out our mission of educating for life and for eternity.

Emily Wittig (left), Alison Foxen (middle), and Alaina Wiedoff (right), all from the KML class of 2021, are currently juniors at Martin Luther College. This spring, all three girls decided to spend the semester studying abroad in Europe. Alison is studying in London, England, while Alaina and Emily are studying in Madrid, Spain.

On Easter Sunday, the girls had the chance to reunite in London to worship together at the WELS mission church in central London.

While abroad, all three girls have had the opportunities to create new friendships, travel to different countries, immerse themselves in new cultures, and share their faith with others. They are thankful for the experiences and learning opportunities throughout these past few months and look forward to what the rest of the semester will bring!

From the President’s Pen

Dear KML Family,

John 3:16 reminds us of God’s immense love: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV) This verse shows us that God’s love is unconditional which is difficult to comprehend and beyond our human understanding. It led our Heavenly Father to send Jesus to save us, demonstrating the depths of his love. May we reflect that love in our lives as we live God’s way. Then we have the opportunity to make him known and encourage the people God has brought into our lives.

God Bless,

President Luehring

Host an International Student in 2024-2025

KML is seeking families to host international students for the 2024-2025 school year. The number of host families that we have available determines the number of international student applications we will be able to accept. Host families receive a stipend of $800/month to provide housing, meals, and transportation from early to mid-August through the end of May.

Applications for hosting for the 2024-2025 school year need to be submitted by April 25, 2024. If you are interested in serving as a host family, please visit kmlhs.org/hostfamily for more information.

A BOLD Move

A bold move THEN

Just as the visionary founding families of Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School boldly initiated this ministry half a century ago, we find ourselves at another pivotal moment demanding expansion.

A bold move NOW

In a time when families are gravitating toward KML for its Christian values and excellent education, this facility expansion positions us to better serve our broader community with the beautiful light of the Gospel.

A bold move for Christ-Centered Education FOREVER

The work we are doing together today will affect countless families and students forever.

Your belief in our Christian mission and your support for this campaign are not only valued, but essential. Together we press onward with unwavering faith, confident that this expansion will not only benefit current students, but generations to come. Let’s Grow Together in faith, vision and impact.

We are so thankful for all the prayers and financial gifts we have received in support of our Let’s Grow Together campaign.

From the President’s Pen

Dear KML Family,

I am the vine; you are the branches. – John 15:5 (NIV) It’s a well known section of Scripture which reminds us of the importance of staying connected to Jesus always! We are thankful to assist you as parents in this very important task for your children. I realize they are young adults and getting closer to the freedom of making their own decisions, but we are thankful to be partners with you. We get to share the Good News of sins forgiven and heaven every day with them as well. We pray God will continue to keep all of our KML family strongly connected to him. That helps us today as we bear much fruit on our earthly walk and grants us an eternity of absolute perfection. God bless you as you raise your children in him!

In Jesus,

President Luehring

Host an International Student in 2024-2025

KML is seeking families to host international students for the 2024-2025 school year. The number of host families that we have available determines the number of international student applications we will be able to accept. Host families receive a stipend of $800/month to provide housing, meals, and transportation from early to mid-August through the end of May.

KML’s international students are required to have a high level of English fluency, but may not be used to speaking English all the time. Many of them also experience American culture for the first time when they come to KML, and our foods and customs take time to get used to. Host families need to be patient, understanding, and open-minded about the addition of an international student to their family.

Applications for hosting for the 2024-2025 school year need to be submitted by April 25, 2024. If you are interested in serving as a host family, please visit kmlhs.org/hostfamily for more information.

Tuition Assistance – DEADLINE APRIL 15

The Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School Federation recognizes that the cost of Christian secondary education has the potential of being a challenge for some families. Accordingly, the Federation has established the KML Tuition Assistance Program. The program is designed to help families meet the cost of this great blessing. The monies come from many donors and foundations, including the KML Foundation. Applicants can apply online by going to kmlhs.org/TuitionAssistance. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2024, and the Finance Committee will determine the assistance mid May. Feel free to contact Mr. Jody Hansen, Director of Operations (262.677.4051 x4004; jody.hansen@kmlhs.org), if you have any questions.

KMaiL 4/4/24

April 4, 2024

From the President’s Pen

Dear KML Family,

We have been raised with Christ! What a blessing to know our God is alive and that because he lives, we, too, will live! As we look forward to our seniors’ graduation next month, there is no doubt this simple truth is one we want engraved in their hearts and minds until they reach their eternity with Jesus. With one eye on that eternal future, we pray all our students, inspired by that truth, will live lives of great purpose. No matter what vocation God leads them to, may they always serve with a Christ-like heart and strive to make him known.

Confident in Jesus our Savior,

President Luehring
