From the President’s Pen

Dear KML Family,

Today is the day! We begin another school year under God’s grace! What an absolute blessing to have an education centered completely on the truth of Scripture. The inerrant, perfect, beautiful Word of God is our standard, and we have the opportunity to train the next generation with God’s loving message of salvation. Increased impact happens for our students when we not only know, but live the truth as we reflect God’s grace in our own lives. Thank you for being a part of our KML family as we educate, encourage, and equip for life and eternity. Let us all continue to grow together in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ and live God’s way together.

God Bless,

President Luehring

Visitor Policy Update

To ensure a safe school environment, KML has partnered with a third-party company to screen all visitors prior to their admittance to the school building. Visitors who plan to go beyond the Main Office should make sure they have a state-issued photo ID along with them prior to entering the building. If you are picking up SCRIP or dropping off an item for your student, this does not apply. It is only applicable if you plan to go beyond the Main Office. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Reporting a Student Absence

In cases where a student is absent, the parent/guardian should follow this procedure:

  • The parent/guardian should notify the school office before 7:00 AM by email to office@kmlhs.org that the student will be absent. An email is always required in order to be saved for attendance records.
  • Please include the following required information in the email:
    1. Student’s First Name
    2. Student’s Last Name
    3. Date(s) of Absence
    4. Time of AbsenceExamples: all day, from 10 AM-1:30 PM, noon through the end of the school day, etc.
    5. Reason for Absence – The more specific the better, otherwise our office will call you to follow up. Examples: doctor appt, orthodontist appt, funeral, college visit, etc. “Family reasons” is not specific enough.

If an email is not sent, the parent/guardian should send a signed, written explanation (including the above required information) on the first day the student returns to school. The written excuse should be turned in to the Main Office. Failure to turn in a written excuse will result in an unexcused absence on the student’s permanent record.

This information can also be found online at www.kmlhs.org under Resources > Student Absences or www.kmlhs.org/student-absences.
