![]() August 3, 2023 From the President’s Pen Dear KML Family, We can’t wait to welcome our students soon! It’s always hard to believe that another school year is upon us already, and this one is extraordinarily special as it marks the 50th anniversary of KML! God has blessed this ministry from the beginning, and we continue to have the opportunity to grow together in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ and live his way. We must always remember that the foundation of our school is Jesus and that we must spend time with him daily. That foundation reminds us of God’s grace for us and of our opportunities to respond to that grace in how we live with love for those around us.There are so many activities, content areas, and events always happening at KML as a part of the high school experience. Christ’s foundation of love will continue to be the foundation for all of them. God Bless, President Luehring
Visitor Policy To ensure a safe school environment, KML has partnered with a third-party company to screen all visitors prior to their admittance to the school building when school is in session. Visitors who plan to go beyond the Main Office should make sure they have a state-issued photo ID along with them prior to entering the building. If you are picking up SCRIP or dropping off an item for your student, this does not apply. It is only applicable if you plan to go beyond the Main Office. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
Reporting a Student Absence In cases where a student is absent, the parent/guardian should follow this procedure:
If an email is not sent, the parent/guardian should send a signed, written explanation (including the above required information) on the first day the student returns to school. The written excuse should be turned in to the Main Office. Failure to turn in a written excuse will result in an unexcused absence on the student’s permanent record. This information can also be found online at kmlhs.org under Resources > Student Absences or kmlhs.org/student-absences.
Senior Picture Guidelines & Deadline It’s time for senior pictures for students in the class of 2024! Having your senior pictures taken can be a time consuming process, so we recommend choosing a photographer and contacting him/her right away. All senior pictures must be submitted by January 15, 2024. Because the yearbook represents Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, we want to maintain a consistent style and format throughout the book. We do limit the pictures seniors may place in the senior portrait section of the yearbook. The yearbook staff asks that one picture be taken and submitted digitally which meets the guidelines found at kmlhs.org/seniorpics. Senior pictures are due January 15, 2024. If we do not receive a picture by this date, the student’s ID picture will be placed in the yearbook instead. Please do not wait until the last minute. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Rebecca Meyer (rebecca.meyer@kmlhs.org) with any questions or concerns.
Required Forms for Sport Participation Students participating in athletics are required to have the consent forms detailed below on file with the KML Activities Department. Please note for the 2023-2024 school year, the form submission process is FULLY ONLINE! Getting Started …
Please contact Mrs. Amy Nass (amy.nass@kmlhs.org) with any questions. Athletes will NOT be allowed to try out or practice without the proper paperwork on file.
Mandatory Meeting for New Student Athletes & Parents NEW KML students (freshmen and new transfer students) who plan to participate in a sport during the 2023-2024 school year are required to attend an informational parent and athlete meeting. The date of the in-person meeting is Wednesday, August 9, at 7:00 PM in the PAC Auditorium. The meeting will also be livestreamed at kmlhs.org/stream and recorded for those who are unable to attend the meeting in person. For those who watch the livestream, please note a Google Form will need to be completed following the meeting.
Dates for the First Day of Practice – Mark Your Calendar! Visit the individual team link at kmlchargers.com for specific sport information/schedules.
Equipment & Uniforms Athletes are issued uniforms at the beginning of each sports season. The proper care of that equipment is the duty of the athlete. Uniforms should never be bleached. Cleaned uniforms should be submitted to the athlete’s respective coach one week after the teams’ final season game. Please make sure the uniform is cleaned, turned right-side out, and complete. A late fee of $5.00 per week will be assessed up to a month, after which a replacement fee will be assessed to the athlete. Any equipment or uniform lost or damaged beyond common use must be replaced by the athlete. The cost will be based on the replacement price.
Fall Athletics Team Pictures All athletes participating in a fall sport will have a team picture taken on the dates listed below. Order forms for team and individual pictures will be sent home with each athlete at the start of their season. Purchasing pictures is optional, but all athletes must be in the team photo. Complete uniforms need to be brought/worn. Please coordinate jersey color choice with your coaches. The schedule is as follows:
Practice Calendar Athletic event schedules are available at kmlchargers.com/athletic-schedule. Specific sport schedule information is also posted on each sport’s home page. Practice calendars are posted under the MORE tab (again on each sport’s home page). Please consult the schedules in advance to avoid conflicts. Some changes in printed schedules do occur. The online calendar (kmlhs.org/calendar) will have the most current schedule.
Fall Sports Parent Volunteering All parents who have a child participating in a fall sport will be assigned to assist with game duties, take admissions, or work in the concession stand. A schedule will be sent home with all athletes and is also posted at kmlchargers.com/athletic-volunteer-schedule. If you are unable to work during your assigned time, please switch with another parent and email Mrs. Nass (amy.nass@kmlhs.org) with the change. For dates that you are helping with admissions or concessions, please identify yourself to the admission takers to gain complimentary admission.
