From the President’s Pen

Dear KML Family,

We miss our students and look forward to seeing them soon! It’s hard to believe another school year is right around the corner. Our teachers have been in meetings this week as we prepare for our full KML family to arrive on campus. We began our meetings reflecting on our school year theme – Let’s Grow Together. We were reminded that the foundation of our school is Jesus and that we must spend time with him daily. That foundation reminds us of God’s grace for us and of our opportunities to respond to that grace in how we live with love for those around us.There are so many activities, content areas, and events always happening at KML as a part of the high school experience. Christ’s foundation of love will continue to be the foundation for all of them.

God Bless,

President Luehring

Visitor Policy Update

To ensure a safe school environment, KML has partnered with a third-party company to screen all visitors prior to their admittance to the school building. Visitors who plan to go beyond the Main Office should make sure they have a state-issued photo ID along with them prior to entering the building. If you are picking up SCRIP or dropping off an item for your student, this does not apply. It is only applicable if you plan to go beyond the Main Office. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Reporting a Student Absence

In cases where a student is absent, the parent/guardian should follow this procedure:

  • The parent/guardian should notify the school office before 7:00 AM by email to office@kmlhs.org that the student will be absent. An email is always required in order to be saved for attendance records.
  • Please include the following required information in the email:
    1. Student’s First Name
    2. Student’s Last Name
    3. Date(s) of Absence
    4. Time of AbsenceExamples: all day, from 10 AM-1:30 PM, noon through the end of the school day, etc.
    5. Reason for Absence – The more specific the better, otherwise our office will call you to follow up. Examples: doctor appt, orthodontist appt, funeral, college visit, etc. “Family reasons” is not specific enough.

If an email is not sent, the parent/guardian should send a signed, written explanation (including the above required information) on the first day the student returns to school. The written excuse should be turned in to the Main Office. Failure to turn in a written excuse will result in an unexcused absence on the student’s permanent record.

This information can also be found online at www.kmlhs.org under Resources > Student Absences or www.kmlhs.org/student-absences.

Senior Picture Guidelines & Deadline

It’s time to start thinking about senior pictures for students in the class of 2023! Having your senior pictures taken can be a time consuming process, so we recommend choosing a photographer and contacting him/her right away. All senior pictures must be submitted by January 13, 2023.

Because the yearbook represents Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, we want to maintain a consistent style and format throughout the book. We do limit the pictures seniors may place in the senior portrait section of the yearbook. The yearbook staff asks that one picture be taken and submitted digitally which meets the guidelines found at kmlhs.org/seniorpics.

Senior pictures are due January 13, 2023. If we do not receive a picture by this date, the student’s ID picture will be placed in the yearbook instead. Please do not wait until the last minute.

Please feel free to contact Mrs. Rebecca Meyer (rebecca.meyer@kmlhs.org) with any questions or concerns.

Athletes are issued uniforms at the beginning of each sports season. The proper care of that equipment is the duty of the athlete. Uniforms should never be bleached. Equipment or uniforms that are lost or damaged beyond common use must be replaced by the athlete. The cost will be based on the replacement price. Cleaned uniforms are due to the coach or Activities Office within one week after the team’s final season game for each individual athlete. Late fees of $5.00 per week will be assessed up to a month, after which a replacement fee will be assessed to the athlete. Uniforms must be handed in to the Activities Office in a bag with the athlete’s name included. Please be sure the uniform is cleaned, turned right-side out, and complete. Repairs should be made if possible. Please contact the Activities Office with any questions you may have.
